How do you use TI-83/84 calc programs??

I've downloaded a lot of programs from ticalc.org and I don't understand how to use them. Some has instructions but they don't really tell you want to do. Like for the math programs or games.. it would go Err:Syntax when I put a # after pressing the program or Err:Archived. Help anyone ?? Thanks. I'm not really good at using calculators
